About

Liesel Plambeck is a multidisciplinary artist and designer based in Los Angeles. Her art explores abstraction and emotion as it relates to balance and harmony. Throughout her creative process, she strives to distill a design into its most basic, fundamental form.

Her work is characterized by rigorous attention to formal elements such as color, shape, balance, depth, composition, and scale—exploring a dichotomy between mathematical precision and expressiveness. Fascinated by the power of minimalism to evoke profound emotion through simplicity, her work often emanates a sense of playfulness and optimism. She is influenced by her cultural heritage, exploring how Scandinavian minimalism meets Eastern philosophy and color theory.

Liesel founded Magnolia Studio in 2017, a design studio showcasing her passion for print, textile, graphic, and product design. She is also cofounder of Ceremony Studios, a creative studio specializing in creative direction, content strategy, branding, and visual storytelling.
